In the aftermath of devastating wildfires, experts are considering whether changing urban design practices could make communities near wilderness areas safer from future conflagrations. Although no area can be made completely fireproof, reevaluating past urban design methods may help mitigate the impact of wildfires similar to those that recently affected Altadena and Pacific Palisades. This initiative underscores the importance of considering design elements in rebuilding efforts to enhance resilience against natural disasters and protect vulnerable communities from future wildfire threats.
